LUNTU MASIZA – ON STAGE ON SCREEN AND IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Luntu Masiza graduated from AFDA in March 2017 with a BA in Live Performance. His performances since, on stage and on screen, have been recognized by audiences and critics both locally and abroad.

A few of his accolades include Fleur Du Cup Award for Best Promising Student, the Setkani/Encounter Theatre Director’s Special Award and Best Male Performance on a Stage Production at the Setkani/Encounter Theatre Festival in the Czech Republic and Best Male Performance in a Television Production at the end of his studies at AFDA.

Luntu has had the opportunity to experience different aspects of performing arts ranging from acting, scriptwriting, producing and directing. In 2020 Luntu, Alexandre Ortscheit and Alexis Burg produced the short film “Some Mothers Sons” adapted from the theatre play by the well-known playwright Mike Van Graan. He also co-stars in the film with fellow AFDA alumnus Francois Immelman. The film is presently travelling on the international film festival circuit and been accepted to screen at numerous festivals.

Luntu is an entrepreneur too. He founded “Changing Your Business Through Theatre”, a company which focuses on facilitating workshops in customer driven environments to build staff confidence, interpersonal abilities and other soft skills through workshops that incorporate theatre and team building techniques. He was also the co- founder of a production company called ‘Kmedia Films’ in London.

He recently has been offered a place at RADA (The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London) for the Master’s degree course which starts in January 2022.

Luntu is currently producing a feature film which he will also be starring.
