read moreThe films “Letters of Hope” written and produced by AFDA Johannesburg writing lecturer Naledi Bogacwi and “Fried Barry” written and directed by alumnus Ryan Kruger walked away with 5 awards at the Rapid Lion – The South African International Film Festival.
The Best Actor in a Supporting Role went to South African actor, Jest Novuka, for his role in “Letters of Hope”. “Fried Barry” picked up the Best South African Film award, Best Cinematography award, and AFDA alumnus Stephan du Plessis bagged the Best Editing Award.
“We are extremely proud of this film, Fried Barry is a major game changer for SA. This film could easily have got overlooked because it’s so different to what normally gets made here in SA. Fried Barry is the first of its kind to come out of SA, breaking the mould in the industry for great change to show we can make different movies. So for that we thank you Rapid Lion for taking notice of our film and being a part of the change.” says Ryan Kruger.
Rapid Lion, awards the Rapid Lion to winning entrants. This award is fated to be the most coveted film prize outside Europe and North America.
