Venessa Buthelezi or Venessa ‘Bee’ as her onscreen followers know her is a South African born Television Producer, Director and Content Producer best known for her ability to take the lead on set. Ever the starter, it wasn’t long until her colleagues dubbed her the ‘worker Bee’.

Venessa holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Motion Picture Medium attained from AFDA. It is there where Venessa gained access to the television industry in which she started working as a researcher in her 2nd year of her course. Her relentless ambition came to show years later as she returned to the institute in 2017 to be awarded the alumni award for Outstanding Achievement in Television Producing.

Venessa has worked on a large number of television shows over the last seven years some of which include V-Entertainment (simulatainiously broadcasted on 1Magic & VuzuTV), ChannelO’s Turn Up, HitRefresh, Daily Sun TV, SuperSport Commentator Challenge and Mzansi Magic Specials to name a few. The Television Venessa has also worked on some of South Africa’s biggest award shows such as the Channel O Music Video Awards and the resent Mzansi Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Venessa is also known as a music enthusiast which has seen her take on roles such as directing and co-ordinating the 2016 Skrillex South African Tour, presenting the longest running Deep House show on South African television, HitRefresh for a number of Five years, as well as be appointed as a South African Music Awards judge for the #SAMA25 award show.

Venessa shares a special interest in unfolding people’s stories which translates into her presenting and directing work which has seen her interviewing international artists such as Naomi Campbell, Issa Rae, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, D’banj, American Rapper Tylayaweh, Martin Garrix, Krewella, Afro Jack and Tiësto.

Venessa’s belief is that creating is dirty and it’s hard and takes a lot of confidence to push against the grain. She equally believes that the magical formula is knowing when to ask ‘why’ and with the same breathe when to ask ‘why not’?
